OnePay uses industry leading fraud detection technology to mitigate against the risk of fraud and keep your money safe.

As part of our onboarding process, OnePay leverages the latest in ID validation and verification recognition technology to speed up the regulatory checks required for those users with a smart device.

To comply with KYC and AML requirements, regulated businesses like OnePay run PEPs and sanctions checks as part of their due diligence on each end user.

We actively monitor every transaction processed, flagging and investigating any suspicious transactions. This enables us to detect, report and act on any potential criminal activity rapidly and take the necessary precautions to reduce any risk to our account holders.

Is it really us?

From time to time, we may need to call or send you a service message relating to your OnePay account. To help you know that it is really us, please be aware:  

  • We will never ask you for your OnePay account PIN (Personal Identification Number) or card CVV numbers.
  • We will never ask you to move money to a ‘safe account.’ 
  • We will never ask you for card or account details to block or unblock your account. 
  • We will never call you from a mobile number or using an automated voice recording.
  • We will never call you and ask you to tell us a One Time Password (OTP)

If you are ever unsure you are speaking with OnePay, hang up and call us back on our Customer Service Team helpline number 0113 320 1900 and we will verify if we called you. Remember, scammers can make it look like they are calling from OnePay’s telephone number.

Some general tips to keep your account safe…

  • If you are contacted unexpectedly, stop and think. If it seems suspicious don’t make a payment or call numbers in messages or emails without first checking they are genuine. 
  • Never tell anyone your OnePay card number and CVV. 
  • When buying online, make sure you are using a safe mobile phone or device and never save your payment details to someone else’s device.  
  • Never give anyone else your card to make a purchase on your behalf.  
  • Never ask someone to call OnePay on your behalf without you there, we have translators for several languages who will be happy to help you.  
  • When shopping online make sure you are using a legitimate website by checking that the spelling of the URL is correct and that there is a padlock symbol to the left of it.  
  • If a deal sounds too good to be true, then it most likely is – make sure you check the small print for any hidden costs or subscription fees.

Different Types of Fraud Include

Fake calls & messages

Fraudsters pretend to be from organisations such as HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs), the police, or financial organisations. They try to obtain  victims’ card details through threat of arrest, monetary loss, or by promising free money or loans. 

Calls from spoofed numbers

Fraudsters can make the number they are calling from appear like a number that you recognise, such as OnePay’s.

Fake delivery texts

Fraudsters may send you a text message asking you to pay outstanding shipping costs.

Romance fraud

Sometimes scammers impersonate others using fake profiles online in the hopes of tricking people into sending them money or buying them gifts by making them gain the victim’s trust.

Phishing

Fraudsters may send you emails posing as legitimate companies trying to trick you into clicking on links and providing your personal details (such as your bank details).
